Your choices for using your Capital One rewards from cards like the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card are about to get better.
Capital One just announced that starting Feb. 4, 2020, you’ll be able to transfer your Capital One Venture and Spark miles to two hotel programs — Wyndham Rewards and Accor Live Limitless. This makes Capital One the first U.S. credit card rewards transfer partner for both of those particular hotels. Capital One is also making the transfer ratio to JetBlue more valuable; it will go from 2:1 to 2:1.5.
Until now, Capital One transfer partners only included certain airline programs.
You’ll be able to transfer rewards to Accor points at a ratio of 2:1, meaning you’ll get 500 Accor points for ever 1,000 Venture or Spark miles transferred.
As for Wyndham, the transfer ratio will be 2:1.5, so you’ll get 750 Wyndham points for every 1,000 miles you transfer.
Of course, it’s always important to do the math to ensure you’re getting the best deal. For example, you could use your Capital One Venture card to book a stay at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort and “erase” your purchase later. Rates over Christmas week this year hover around $500 per night. So you’d need 50,000 Venture miles per night to cover your stay.
Or you could now transfer your Venture miles to Wyndham and pay the award rate of 30,000 Wyndham points per night. In this case, you’d only need 40,000 Venture miles (because the transfer ratio is 2:1.5) for a free night. A savings of 10,000 Venture miles per night can really add up on a multi-night stay.
Regardless of how you decide to use your rewards, more transfer partners mean more options and that’s always a good thing. In addition, the Capital One Venture card consistently ranks among the top credit cards for travel thanks to its simple rewards-earning and redemption structure and valuable welcome bonus.
If you’re looking for a rewards-earning card but don’t want to deal with the hassle of award charts and blackout dates, the Capital One Venture card is absolutely worth a look.
