INSIDER SECRET: You can combine your Citi ThankYou points from multiple accounts into one account to accelerate your next free vacation!

Every card that earns Citi ThankYou points gets its own ThankYou member account number when it’s issued.  That is, its own bucket where earned points will live.

You can earn Citi ThankYou points with:

  • Citi Premier® Card (comes with the highest welcome bonus, 60,000 bonus ThankYou® Points after you spend $4,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening)
  • Citi Rewards+® Card
  • Citi Rewards+℠ Student Card
  • Citi Prestige
  • AT&T Access Card from Citi

The information for the Citi Rewards Student card, Citi Prestige, and AT&T Access cards has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

If you’re looking for how to set up a Citi ThankYou points account, it couldn’t be simpler.  You can then log-in to see your list of accounts and all your current points balances.  But there are a couple of nuances you should know about pooling your points!

How to Set up a Citi ThankYou Points Account

When you get your first Citi card, you’ll want to set-up online access to:

  • View balances and transactions
  • Download statements
  • Pay your monthly bill
  • Manage your card account

To start, navigate to Citi’s website.

You’ll see the “Sign On” section in the upper right corner.  Look for “Register for Online Access” and click the link.

On the next page, Citi will ask for details about your card, including the full account number and security code.  Then, they’ll confirm your identity using your birthday and Social Security Number.

Once you fill-in the details, click “Continue Set Up.”

You’ll create a login ID and choose a password.  Then, you’ll see this:

Two Ways to Access Your Citi ThankYou Points

For subsequent logins, you can view your points balances in 2 ways.  First, you can simply visit Citi.com and login.

You’ll see a screen that looks like this after you enter your username and password:

From there, you can click “Redeem” or “Point Summary” under the ThankYou portion of your account.  Either link will take you to your ThankYou member accounts.

The other way to access your ThankYou points is login at ThankYou.com.

This is easier if you want to redeem your points for travel or other rewards, or transfer to airline partners.  As a reminder, the only cards that allow you to transfer points to airlines are the Citi Premier Card and Citi Prestige.

You Might Want to Combine Your Accounts

Any time you open a new ThankYou points-earning card, that card will get a new ThankYou member account number.  You can choose to keep the card separate from the others (which happens by default), or combine them into one account.

Either choice is fine because you can transfer points between your cards instantly.  But for simplicity’s sake, you can combine them by calling Citi at the number on the back of your card.

The advantage is that all your ThankYou points will be in one place.  And when combined, all the points you earn will take on the characteristics of the most “powerful” ThankYou card in the pool.

For example, the Citi Premier Card allows you to book travel through Citi at a redemption rate of 1.25 cents per point, whereas with other cards, your points are only 1 cent each (the exception is Citi Prestige, which lets you book airfare for 1.25 cents per point, but that’s ending on September 1, 2019).

Keep in mind, once you combine your accounts, it can NOT be undone.  There’s not much of a downside to combining them, unless you want to keep things separate for tracking purposes.

Bottom Line

When you register for Citi online banking using your ThankYou card number, you’ll automatically have access to view and redeem your ThankYou points.

There’s nothing else you need to do, unless you have more than one card that earns Citi ThankYou points.  In that case, you can choose to combine your accounts by calling Citi, or leave them separate.  Either way, you can pool your points when you’re ready to use them.

The only cards that allow points transfers to airline partners are the Citi Premier Card and Citi Prestige, and you can supplement your points earning with other cards, including the Citi Rewards+® Card and Citi Rewards+℠ Student Card.
