Yes you can fly CX to the middle east with a stopover in HKG, however J pricing to the Middle East or Africa is 62.5K miles.

First is 70K, a small premium (7.5K) if you can find availability. CX doesn’t operate 4 cabin configured aircraft on the Middle East & Africa routes so you would be in F for the TPAC only. If AS serves your city, they will also include the domestic flight to the CX gateway; LAX, SFO, SEA & YVR. Don’t forget about Vancouver, BC.

The 70K pricing you note for KE economy is 35K in each direction; in line with other carrier redemptions. You cannot book one-way awards at half the price but you can combine a KE award in one direction with a return on either KE or another carrier at half the listed rates.

For instance, you could book JFK-ICN-SYD in KE J. The one-way or return price is 125K miles. Booking QF J SYD-LAX-JFK is 55K.

If you combined these two into a return award (you can use different partners in each direction but you cannot mix partners in one direction) the KE JFK-ICN-SYD outbound would be 62.5K and the inbound on QF J SYD-LAX-JFK would be 55K for a total of 117.5K.

That is cheaper than flying CX J JFK-HKG-SYD return for 120K.

Can I use AS miles on Cathay Pacific for my next flight from midwest US to India with stopover in Hong Kong? If yes, would that cost me 50K only in business?
